My simple 5-Step video script works for YouTube videos or Course videos
It isn’t a secret that you do need to write a good video script if you want to create a smooth and stunning video. Whatever the video is for – a how-to video on YouTube, an interview on your website, or an instruction video for your course – the script is where the ideation begins.
Over time I have evolved a simple 5-step video scripting format that works beautifully for any kind of video. Below is a script for an interview video that demonstrated the 5-step format. The 5 steps to include are: Attention, Agitation, Announcement, Activity, and Action.
The idea is to first call Attention to an issue and Agitate its problems and contours, so the video-watcher gets hooked. Then Announce your solution and detail the solution via the Activity on the screen. Finally, give people a Call-to-Action.
Most people make much hoohaa about storyboards for videos, but you don’t really need them if your scripts are detailed enough to describe even the imagery you want to use. The secret to writing good video scripts is to use this simple two-column template: for Audio Video.
