FOCUS: Voice Discovery | AUDIENCE: Experts with Ignored Brands
I helped a burnout recovery coach cut through online noise, using her stillness as the brand’s clearest message.
This expert coach had a very specific niche: helping senior professionals recover from emotional and physical burnout. Her success in 1:1 sessions was undeniable. Clients spoke of her as someone who “finally got it” when others didn’t. But her website, socials, and email content weren’t pulling in new leads.
Why not? The brand was paradoxically busy—overloaded with coaching terminologies, daily wellness checklists, and downloadable frameworks. Instead of soothing the burned-out, it overwhelmed them further. She was unintentionally mirroring the exact high-pressure culture her clients were trying to escape.
When I asked to review a few recorded sessions, one detail stood out instantly: her presence. The way she listened. The space she allowed. Clients often paused, exhaled, and found their own words during those silences. That unspoken permission was the healing force—and no one could pick that up from her website.
She wasn’t “saying” the wrong things. She was hiding the right ones. Her most powerful professional trait—intentional stillness—was nowhere in her branding. Her online voice was saying “Here’s a toolkit,” when her real gift was, “I’ll hold space while you find what you need.”
My breakthrough idea for her brand was to stop trying to express the brand through more information—and instead embody its impact through atmosphere. Stillness became her signature. I didn’t “add more value”—I removed the unnecessary.
The brand’s new voice was deliberately quiet, sparse, and composed. Website copy had fewer words, more breath. Instagram posts used whitespace, ambient sounds, and single-line thoughts. The tone didn’t instruct—it invited. We didn’t push the user to act. We gave them room to pause.
The entire brand experience shifted from content-heavy to space-conscious. I revised the website’s first fold to feel like an exhale—opening with a single question, no call-to-action buttons in sight. Just quiet credibility. Client stories were reshaped to reflect stillness in transformation.
We also launched a series of “unbusy” emails—brief messages landing just once a fortnight, each no more than 50 words. And we made silence interactive: a ‘2-Minute Stillness Session’ embedded on the homepage invited visitors to pause with the coach’s voice guiding only the start and end.

Brand Manifesto Reel: A slow-motion video with ambient music and just 8 on-screen words.
Digital Retreat Email Flow: A 3-day sequence of no-ask, grounding emails sent quarterly.
“Unsubscribe to Reconnect” Campaign: Inviting users to reduce email noise across all lists, including hers.
Interactive Mood Wheel: A calming tool on the website asking “Where are you now?” with no output—just reflection.
Stillness-as-a-Service Call: A 20-minute calendar slot where the coach says nothing unless asked.
Minimal Metrics: Showing only two numbers on the site: average breath rate at session start vs end.
Lead-to-call conversions doubled after homepage revision and silence session embed.
Instagram reach rose 3.2x despite lower posting frequency, thanks to shares and saves.
Email unsubscribe rate dropped by 58% after shifting to minimalist, fortnightly content.
Booked sessions returned to pre-pandemic levels, even with premium pricing reinstated.
